WTA is pleased to announce a collaboration with the energy sector’s Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to assist the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) in expanding the functionality of its existing environment-focused Geographic Information System (GIS).
EPRI was founded in 1972, with a goal to deliver independent, objective thought leadership and industry expertise to help the energy sector identify issues, technology gaps, and broader needs that can be addressed through effective, collaborative research and development programs.
Through this multidisciplinary partnership, the GIS enhancements will allow additional data sets from vendors, existing infrastructure, and open-source regulatory agencies to be seamlessly integrated within the GIS used in LADWP’s Environmental Review Process (EnvREV). EnvREV is a home-grown web-based solution created for LADWP by WTA in 2019, to ensure the myriad of federal, state, and local environmental permits and approvals required for construction projects can be tracked in an efficient and timely manner.
GIS functionality was subsequently added to EnvREV by WTA after the release date, and this new level of upgrades with an industry leader such as EPRI will undoubtedly take EnvREV’s GIS to the highest caliber, furthering the commitment of all involved parties to quality environmental sustainability and stewardship.
